NOTE: Knox Little Athletics Centre does not have an U/6 age group in the Track
& field season, just in the Cross County season.
'YA' stands for Youth Athletics for those U/16
It is
best to try things out for a week or 2 to see if your kids (and you)
want to commit for a full season. Once your payments go through to
the VLAA and the Knox centre it's impossible to give refunds
for their components as they dont refund them to us.

Club
short sleeve competition shirts are $35 each and not included in the
above fees. Shirts
generally last several years. You will also need to provide your own
black shorts. Shorts must be plain black with no logos or coloured stitching. Caps are also available for $10.
If competing for Knox in region, state or other centre's various events you need to buy the Knox Centre black and yellow competition T-Shirt for $22(?) so that when other centre's are watching you disappear into the distance they know who they are being beaten by.
All
you need to start is your uniform and a pair of runners. Athletes from U12 and up can use spikes. See here for spike buying advice - young athletes should buy spikes with heels ...
Specialist
equipment is sometimes recommended (like spikes for the older kids)
but go easy in your first year as it often takes a year of competition
to
learn
the
varying
skills required to compete well in all the events. More technical events
like the throws and jumps will certainly take a while to get right.
Discounts are available at various stores and specialist suppliers
if you ask
around.
You will find that most sports stores don't actually sell shot puts,
discuses,
javelins,
hammers, etc.
nor specialist footwear (throws shoes for example). Speak to any of the specialist coaches or Mike Donato for
expert advice before you go and buy anything.
Discounts
are available if you join from February or only compete in the winter
season to do cross country. Ask our committee for further details.
All
prices are inclusive of 10% GST.
